Football in Community Building - Breaking Barriers Among Youths

An event was held in conjunction with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports’ ‘Bulan Sukan Negara 2019’ (National Sports Month 2019). The event was a month-long programme centered around promoting sports among the youths to adopt a healthier and active lifestyle nationwide.

Football is a sport commonly played by Malaysians across all races and status, uniting communities both young and old.

An informal 4-a-side youth football challenge was designed with grassroot development in mind – a friendlier approach to instill values including teamwork, social development, health and mental development and character building.

For many, football is not just a game, but an avenue in which dreams have been fulfilled, heroes were born and lives were changed. Orphanage homes and the under-privileged communities were visited and invited alongside schools and youth football clubs. To ensure that the less privileged could also experience the joy of football and embrace the spirit of football, transportation and food allowance was provided so that no one was left behind.
